I did my graduation (MBBS) from Nilratan Sircar Medical College, Kolkata (1998-2003). Thereafter a short stint of DMRD in the same college I went to PGIMER, Chandigarh to pursue my Post Graduation (MD) in Psychiatry (January 2006- December 2008). After successfully completing my MD (obtained Bronze medal in MD final exam which is considered as the second order of merit) I took up the post of Senior Resident in the same institute. I worked as a Senior Resident for 1 year 2 months and 9 days (1st January 2009-9th March 2010). During the period of residency training, I was rotated through in-patient ward residency, drug-deaddiction and treatment centre, emergency wing, out patient department, consultation and liaison services, clinical psychology, neurology and a one month period of posting in neuropsychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India, a premiere institute for neuropsychiatry. During my posting in the out-patients department, I managed patients from the disciplines of adult psychiatry, child psychiatry, marital-psychosexual psychiatry, neuropsychiatry as well as disability evaluation and rehabilitation of patients. During my six-month posting as Senior Resident in drug-deaddiction and treatment centre, me with my colleagues was responsible for 20-bedded inpatient unit as also the daily Drug De-addiction OPD services and peripheral activities like organizing community deaddiction awareness and treatment camps once a month, delivering educational lectures on substance related issues at schools and colleges in and around Chandigarh. In my two and half months posting as a Senior Resident in-charge of the inpatient wing, I was responsible for the clinical management of patients as well as supervision and training of junior residents. During my tenure as a junior and senior resident, I took active interest in psychotherapy. I have managed several cases in which the primary treatment modality was psychodynamic psychotherapy, behavior therapy or cognitive behavior therapy. I have good knowledge of computers and biostatistics and am efficient in data keeping. I have keen interest in research and have quite a few research publications in my name. I have good organizational skills as well.
