Gene protecting from Alcoholism

A new gene called the 'tipsy gene' has been found by a group of scientists. This gene i.e. CYP2E1 in chromosome 10 breaks down alcohol. The more quicker it breaks down alcohol lesser are the chances of developing dependence. Therefore this gene can open new avenues in the treatment of alcohol dependence.
